What is the Ayushman Bharat Scheme?
The Ayushman Bharat Scheme is an ambitious health insurance scheme launched by the Government of India on 15th August 2018. Its objective is to provide free health security coverage to around 10 crore poor and vulnerable families in the country. This scheme is an important step towards ensuring the right to health under Article 21 of the Constitution of India.
Under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme, each family is provided with a free health insurance coverage of up to Rs. 5 lakh per year. This coverage is available for the treatment of over 1,350 diseases at any empaneled hospital across the country.
The aim of the Ayushman Scheme is to cover around 50 crore people by 2022. Currently, around 10.74 crore families are registered under this scheme.

Eligibility Criteria for Ayushman Bharat Scheme:
Based on the Socio-Economic Caste Census 2011, the eligibility of families to avail benefits under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme is determined by the following criteria:
- For Rural Families Only
- For Urban Families Only
For Rural Areas:
Families identified as per the Socio-Economic Caste Census data
For Urban Areas:
- Ration card holder families
- Female-headed households
- Families with disabled or elderly members
- Rag picker families
- Migrant worker families, etc.
How to Apply for Ayushman Bharat Scheme:
- Visit the local CSC center and apply
- Apply online at https://abdm.gov.in/
- Download the PM-JAY mobile app and apply
- Call the integrated call center (14555 or 1800-11-5001)

- Bank account details (optional)
